I imagine the colors were naturally subdued due to the mist but you have toned them down all the way to black and white.

Sometimes when the color is muted or non-existent I do convert to black and white to place the emphasis solidly on shape. There was dull color in the trees and the immediate foreground was yellowing dead grass. Monochrome seemed more attractive.

Yes. At first I thought the scene wasn’t to be photographed but the longer I lingered the more the atmosphere appealed. And the foggy silhouette.

Indeed it is, Peter. Still not enough to erase our drought conditions but hopefully enough to help our foliage season linger. Dry weather speeds leaf abscission.
