While I do enjoy waterfalls, most of the water in motion subjects I shoot are the smaller features. Dean Brook is loaded with interesting cascades and I was drawn to the path of flow and combination of textures in this spot.

Given your title, and the fact that when I opened the photo only the portion of the flow at the very top, above the large rock, was visible, I saw — a snail with its antennae extended. Maybe I need more coffee.

I went with the flow over the texture of the shelf at a snail’s pace and arrive at a really pleasing experience.

I love this composition – the curves of the rocks and the flow of the water are really pleasing together. I think I prefer a detail like this – the ‘intimate landscape’ to wider views – it somehow draws me in more.
