At the time you took the picture, were you conscious of the scene looking as blue as it does here?

No. I believe either ours eyes adjust or the sensor is more sensitive to the color of light. Or maybe my eyes were as cold as the ice so didn’t notice.

I suspect our eyes are compensating or we tend to see what out brain expects. I certainly find that there’s a lot more blue in winter images than I can see in ‘real life’.

I agree. Just as our eyes compensate for low or bright light giving us a dynamic range far beyond what the camera’s sensor can see, so too with color, I think.

Cold days, these!

Indeed they are. Winter is now making up for all that more temperate weather we’ve had.

Very nice! I can’t tell if this is a scene with limited color or a toned monochrome … either way it works!

Thanks, Denise! It’s limited color by the dim light at the time.

Better through the picture than being in the actual weather, I think. 🙂 Thanks, Sel!

I like the colours and textures. It sure looks cold, we’re -20 C with windchill today. 😏

Thanks, Belinda! That is a bit colder than it was here yesterday. Right now on Saturday morning we are at 2°F/-16°C so we’re close but you might be even colder today.

It is interesting how different a scene can look with a coating of ice, and what that does to how we feel about it, how we almost immediately shiver from viewing it. 🙂

WInter has a way of creating things we would not otherwise see aside from just the addition of ice.

The large center rock looks like a stingray (see the eye?) that took a serious wrong turn and ended up in a really bad neighborhood. It even appears to have really ‘frozen its tail off.’
