I love the contrast of the radiant foliage with the slate sky in the background–and the middle layer of the lighter wave-clouds provides the visual icing.

Ditto.

Thanks, Gary. It took a little bit of work to separate the upper clouds from the waves. But I like the effect. Glad that it works for you.

When I saw those fingers of fog, I thought, “Something wicked this way comes…” The foliage is beautiful, but be careful. There could be some witches in those woods, brewing up winter winds.

Yes, careful indeed. As I am sure you know from my previous Quabbin posts, this area used to be four towns which were taken for the reservoir and residents relocated, most against their will. I imagine more than a few restless spirits may be wandering the land.

My goodness, what a sky! Those cool clouds look like icy flames licking the top of the trees, ready to turn them into winter sculptures.

I’m fine, thank you for asking! Seems life has gotten very busy. How are you?

I’m doing very well. I hope you are too! Did you move?

Alas, no. I guess there are a few milestones we must reach before we can. In the mean time I get to watch the trees I’ve planted over the years grow, and see birds come to them. There is satisfaction in that.
I am glad to hear that all is well with you. 🙂

The fog waves really are what stopped me. The foliage was radiant but the shapes were the attraction. Thanks, Melissa.

Did you consider cropping up from the bottom to just above the light-colored bush in the foreground? The bush intermittently pulled my glance down toward it.

Of course but I did not like those crops in any of the various dimensions. It is what it is in this case.

The colors really POP! With that sky and clouds! It’s gorgeous.

That’s my kind of New England fall image – a bit of moodiness, great color, and nothing saccharine about it.

The light was certainly interesting and the dark background really allowed it to shine. Right time, right place. Those trees are leafless now. 🙂
