04.28.2020 Pants!

Today is Mary Beth and my 36th.  Exactly now half my life has been filled with marital bliss thanks to her wonderfulness.  The scale is definitely balanced in my favor as she got the short end of the stick. She’s better looking, healthier, more energetic, smarter (which isn’t hard to do), better with money, kinder ( although I am a close reasonably kind), much sweeter, and a bunch more. OTOH, I take better pictures (again not hard to do since she doesn’t use a camera of any kind) and mow the lawn.  🙂  At 36 I wasn’t sure any woman would ever want to spend her life with me but Mary Beth said she would and that was the first of 13149 of the happiest days of my life and counting.

So the pants part has to do with her sleeping late and my going to the ledges looking for flowers.  There still are not many Bloodroot aren’t open in the early morning and the columbine are not quite ready yet) but a few Dutchman’s Breeches-Dicentra cucullaria were in flower and I found some on one of the shelves with a nice dark background and a little dewy pearl clinging to one of the blooms.

On the way home I bought some cut flowers.  😀

  1. That’s an excellent portrait. Spring flora finally arrive in Massachusetts.

Your title apparently means that no one who reads your text will feel like shouting “Liar, liar, pants on fire!”

  2. Congratulations on 36th. Anniversary. Quite an accomplishment, and hope you have an eternity more together.

    • Thanks, Bob. I don’t know how she puts up with me. We plan on our ashes being mixed, along with our dogs, and scattered in a place we love. So we shall be together for eternity although how aware we will be of that remains a mystery. 🙂

  3. BEAUTIFUL IMAGE Steve! Like the darkening leaf in the background also and the water drops! Really sets off the Main Image! Well Done! Congratulations on your 36th Anniversary!

  4. Congrats to you. Ellen and I just had our 32nd a few days ago. I can’t even say I’m a better photographer. However, having spent time in the service I have no fear of cleaning a bathroom. I know my place and accept it and the good life a little disinfectant has provided…(yeah but I couldn’t resist) LOL

CD and I are just two years and two weeks away from our 50th–I can’t believe it. But any anniversary is well worth celebrating, and the more years we have happily under our belts, the more the congratulations are deserved, in my opinion. I wish you a fabulous one–and it’s so nice that you bought (rather than picked) flowers for the occasion! BTW, with four grandchildren, these remind me more of babies’ onesies than breeches!

    • 50 is very impressive, Gary and CD. Especially these days when some marriages are swinging doors. I hope we live to see our 50th having got married a little later in life. I was 36 and Mary Beth 34. I certainly wouldn’t have picked wildflowers but if the timing was different garden flowers would have been nice too.

      • I should have said “revolving doors” but I am sure you got the drift.

Got your drift quite clearly, though for some, “swinging” could, unfortunately be more appropriate. You were only eight years older than we were when we joined. And it’s most definitely not a contest. It doesn’t matter in the least who’s ahead at any given time: Where love is the bond, we all win.

I hope you both had a very happy anniversary! Congratulations on such a long and happy one. And a beautiful photograph to go along with it. I love how well the breeches stand out here, with those few drops of dew.

    • Thanks, Todd. We did enjoy our day although didn’t really do anything special. Presents went bye bye years ago and now we just exchange cards…and loving looks. 🙂
Th rain drops, as we’d had a day of it, made me happy because after making dozens of shots of these coming up with something different is a challenge.

Happy anniversary! Your choice of photo is apt, and what you’ve written suggests that, in your case, it’s not a matter of who wears the pants in the family, but of sharing the pants in the family!

Congrats on 36. I can see by now you know who wears the pants – it’s the flowers!

Warmest congratulations to you both. Your photograph is a worthy celebratory picture. It’s such a cool, crazy flower, and that dewdrop – what could be more fresh-looking?

    • Thanks, Lynn. I love having dew drops, or rain drops even, on the flowers. Someone once advised me to carry a mister for that but it is so much more rewarding when it’s natural.
