10.18.2022 Another foggy day

And I ain’t complaining.  Likely never will. I just had a four-day weekend and every day was fog laden.  I wasn’t able to take advantage on Friday but the next three were lovely with yesterday’s fog followed by off and … Continue reading

10.17.2022 A blast from the not too distant past

On one of my trips to East Leverett Meadow, the same day as the recent tendril and drop post, I happened across this pretty bindweed flower below some popped milkweed pods (my original photographic quarry).  I posted a similar flower … Continue reading

10.12.2022 Garden Floss

For several years now Mary Beth has agreed to our having milkweed line our driveway as well as grow at the side of the house.  The last few she has allowed it into her vegetable garden and we have about … Continue reading

10.10.2022 American Burnweed

I posted a bud with bee a little while back but this showcases a bud with bloom.  That’s a lot of seeds and might explain why this qualifies for “weedship” as it has spread all over the side yard where … Continue reading

09.12.2022 Milkweed Mania Macro Monday

Visited East Leverett Meadow (interesting that they require you to lease a dog when visiting 🙂 ) this morning shortly after our rain let up with raindrops in mind. The floss tends to stick together when wet but there were … Continue reading

09.02.2022 Fighting Frustration

This Mason Wasp-Parancistrocerus sp (possibly) was going from flower to flower on this American Burnweed-Erechtites hieraciifolius trying for some pollen in our yard. Eventually these flowers do open a bit more but for now the going was difficult.

08.23.2022 Two-fer Tuesday

I hadn’t planned on doing a two-fer post but decided to share a wildflower.  I have been stressing insects rather than flowers this summer so thought I should post one.  Maybe more to come. These aptly named Meadow Beauties are … Continue reading

08.20.2022 Syrphid Saturday

Don’t I wish that Syrphid Saturday could become an ongoing series. That would take some doing as, although there are over 900 Syrphid species in the U.S., as of yet I’ve only seen a handful in the yard and elsewhere. … Continue reading
