I couldn’t remember what these are, but I knew you’d posted images of them before. Eventually, it occurred to me they resemble the fancy headdresses of Dutch women and… well, now I know what they are. It’s such a beautiful image, and they’re beautiful flowers. Is the gold truly gold in real life, rather than yellow? I don’t remember seeing it on any other flower, but that green, gold, and white combination is great.

    • Thanks, Linda.
It is yellow, sometimes a bit richer, approaching gold I guess, and sometimes paler. The name breeches gave me tunnel vision, so to speak, but now that you mention those headdresses they do resemble those as well.
I posted this also last year and at that time you mentioned blue patches of sky as their resemblance.

I remembered those blue patches once I’d recalled the plant’s name. It really is a gorgeous plant. Even better, we’re supposed to have some of those blue patches today.

      • No blue patches here today. Spring snow is the forecast but there will be rain in the middle. I don’t think there will be much in my neighborhood, but maybe in North Quabbin or, if I am adventurous, the Berkshires.
