After shooting the sky and valley yesterday morning I drove around Quabbin Park looking at other possible subjects. One location is the Spillway which allows excess water to overflow at this spot and continue down along the Swift River . It’s been a while since there has been much excess in the reservoir.
As I drove along the spillway, I noticed some reflections that I thought would make interesting abstracts in black and white. Please click to see the images full size.
These are wonderful. I really love the second one.

Thank you, Melissa. I am glad you enjoyed them.

The second looks like a head lying on the ground, top on the right, chin on the left. Excellent Steve.

Thanks, Andrew. So maybe you are seeing the same mask that Linda mentions below.

Wow, just spectacular. I see eyes in the first one and I’m right with Andrew regarding the second. I, too, saw the face immediately, and I’d love to see a 90° counter-clockwise rotation of that!

The eyes are what caught my immediate attention as I drove by the spillway, Gary.

I immediately saw those two eyes too.

Try viewing rotated 90 left or right.

I did look at that while they were in Photoshop, Jim. But as there is a slight ripple in the water I didn’t think I would do that. Maybe I’ll post them rotated later on.

These are fabulous, Steve. I like both, and both remind me of African tribal masks. I see the “eyes” in the first one, but the second is full-face, although lying horizontally. Here’s a sample of three nice Dan tribal masks. Perhaps you can see the resemblance.

I can see those masks as one of these reflections. No one has seen the illusions that my imagination came up with. I thought you might but you surprised me with something even more imaginative.

Great looking abstracts here. I see mouths or eyes depending on one’s perspective.

Thanks, Yvonne. Everyone is seeing faces which I never did…except for the eyes.

These are very nice, too! B&W works really well.

Thanks, Pete. There isn’t much color in those rocks so monochrome seemed the best way to go.
