08.09.2015 Spillway Abstracts

After shooting the sky and valley yesterday morning I drove around Quabbin Park looking at other possible subjects. One location is the Spillway which allows excess water to overflow at this spot and continue down along the Swift River .  It’s been a while since there has been much excess in the reservoir.

As I drove along the spillway, I noticed some reflections that I thought would make interesting abstracts in black and white.  Please click to see the images full size.

  1. These are wonderful. I really love the second one.

The second looks like a head lying on the ground, top on the right, chin on the left. Excellent Steve.

Wow, just spectacular. I see eyes in the first one and I’m right with Andrew regarding the second. I, too, saw the face immediately, and I’d love to see a 90° counter-clockwise rotation of that!

Try viewing rotated 90 left or right.

These are fabulous, Steve. I like both, and both remind me of African tribal masks. I see the “eyes” in the first one, but the second is full-face, although lying horizontally. Here’s a sample of three nice Dan tribal masks. Perhaps you can see the resemblance.

    • I can see those masks as one of these reflections. No one has seen the illusions that my imagination came up with. I thought you might but you surprised me with something even more imaginative.

  6. Great looking abstracts here. I see mouths or eyes depending on one’s perspective.

These are very nice, too! B&W works really well.
