One morning while at Acadia this past June I decided to visit Hunters Beach….as opposed to Little Hunters Beach…to photograph beach rocks. That didn’t work out. But on the way in, I noticed that the trail actually had a guardian. He seemed affable enough once I realized he was there after almost stepping on some tender extremity. Very patient as a model, we agreed that this was a good portrait. Not exactly the Queen’s Guard, he still keeps a watchful eye on everything that transpires.🙂
9.12.2013….I added this to show Lottie another forest spirit. 🙂
That is an unusual discovery. “He” looks like a “man-frog” in my perspective. I like your portrait of the forest sentry. Very nice find, Steve.

Thanks, Yvonne. Yes, he does look a bit froggish. That has to be what drew me to him. 🙂

He does seem rather intense, Lyle.

The Green Man, spirit of the forest. There is much folklore surrounding him. What a wonderful picture.

Thanks, Lottie. Indeed there is much lore and I think Tolkien may have drawn on that for his Ents. I just added this image…https://sggphoto.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/high-ledges-guardian-052012-800fb.jpg …to show another spirit I discovered in the woods one day, guarding a trail in a local sanctuary. Not green, but doing his job. 🙂

You have a good eye for forest goblins, Steve. I think you should mount an exhibition: Gingold’s Goblins. It would be a sell out for sure.

Thanks, Andrew. I only have the two so far, but I could certainly bolster the lineup with a shot of Gingold the Goblin. 🙂

You could almost mostake him for a tree root. We had a Green Man pub at the top of our road. Maybe he emigrated too, 🙂

A tree root. What bad drink have you got into, Rod? Of course, it is an easy mistake to make….I almost tripped over him….or did he almost trip me?
Thanks for taking a look during this hectic time and persisting to comment, Rod. I hope all is going smoothly. 🙂

Well, I have to give the sentinel a little of the credit for reaching out and touching someone, Phil. Thanks.

And here I was looking for a snake or something hidden among the leaves. Sheesh!
I much prefer what you found.

Oh, a snake would have been pretty cool too. Thanks, Greg.
