One morning while at Acadia this past June I decided to visit Hunters Beach….as opposed to Little Hunters Beach…to photograph beach rocks. That didn’t work out. But on the way in, I noticed that the trail actually had a guardian. He seemed affable enough once I realized he was there after almost stepping on some tender extremity. Very patient as a model, we agreed that this was a good portrait. Not exactly the Queen’s Guard, he still keeps a watchful eye on everything that transpires.

The Green Man, spirit of the forest. There is much folklore surrounding him. What a wonderful picture.

Thanks, Lottie. Indeed there is much lore and I think Tolkien may have drawn on that for his Ents. Not green, but doing his job. 🙂
