I am a Nature Photographer with interests in all things related. Water, flowers, insects and fungi are my main interests but I am happy to photograph wildlife and landscapes and all other of Nature's subjects.
Yes I am but most of the places I find these scenes are a drive from home. I wish I had my own personal stream to study here on the property. That’s something I hadn’t considered when we were house hunting 36 years ago. There are YouTube videos of growing icicles but it would be nice to watch it for ourselves.
Nice! We walked up there just yesterday. I’ve never seen it so full and flowing. Amazing that the high water continues after more than a week. It must have been quite the torrent on Christmas.
BTW, there was a photographer there that at first I thought was you, but with everyone masked, it was hard to tell. He didn’t have a mustache and it was after lunch, so I didn’t approach him, thinking it wasn’t you. Strange times these!
I wish I had gone there as well to see the flow. Torrents don’t always allow for the same control that I aim for but just being there would have been nice. If he was there alone when you arrived then if it was me I would have been unmasked. I put mine on when people arrive but if alone it’s off. If I visited up your way I’d let you know. 🙂
That’s a magnificent set of icicles. Considering Littlesundog’s comment, wouldn’t it be interesting to be able to get a time-lapse sequence as they grow?
I haven’t eaten an icicle in decades. As a kid I did often but it never occured to me what was in those cold spears that hung from dirty roofs and gutters. Probably explains why I grew up with a cast iron stomach. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Very nicely found, composed and processed. I have a hard time finding accessible places to photograph ice and cascades. I think our snow on top of the ice covers up some of the nice smooth forms and reflections too.

The clarity of those icicles is wonderful. Winter’s arrived for sure; this is the first time this year I’ve had the urge to eat an icicle.

This is at the bottom of a waterfall which was somewhat beneath snow but the lower section was open giving me this opportunity. Thanks Denise!
