Sunrises two days in a row, that is. I barely got to New Salem in time this morning to catch some nice light and color. All the way up Route 202 I could catch glimpses of this developing and chastised myself for having breakfast before leaving. “I could have had a V8” instead.
Once again this shows that you don’t always have to be looking to the east for a nice twilight display. In this case we are looking northward at Pack Monadnock in the distance which is in NH. I had been hoping that the clouds would drift a bit more to the right, but there wasn’t a lot of activity in the upper atmosphere so they pretty much stayed put until the light became stronger and the color faded as the sun approached the horizon.
I did make an image looking to the east, but haven’t really looked at the files yet.
Nice Steve! Beautiful image!

I like the swirls in the clouds at the left.

When I was driving up the highway and looking at them I was thinking I’d finally get a shot at lenticular clouds. Not quite but nice shapes just the same.

Thank you, Eliza. I was worried I would miss the color but made it with moments to spare.

I’m rather taken with the texture of the foliage in the foreground. Can you see the leafy little dude crouched down in the lower left? He disappeared when I enlarged the photo, but I can see him here: facing to the right with arm, hair, and lips visible.

I can, not that I did. It’s nice to have such quiet and unassuming company at times.

He is definitely there, and he reminds me very much of one of my grands’ favorite characters, the Gruffalo. He’s very near and dear to my heart, because my name, for them is not Grandpa or anything like that, but rather Gruffy!
