While October has not yet arrived, just a day away though, there are bits of color to be found in small areas. Close to water is usually at the lead and that was the case with this image next to a swamp in North Quabbin.
Feels like we were at Acadia just last week and now the month is over. 😯
I, too, am shocked how fast the month disappeared. However, if advancing fall brings us visions like this, I don’t mind!

I have been eagerly awaiting autumn…but now that it is here it seems to have arrived so soon. And having said that I am sure it will go just as quickly. 😯

And then….dreaded winter!!! 😦 😦 But I have to admit, getting older the seasons do seem to go more quickly, even winter.

The colors are lovely, especially in combination with the fog. What really tickled me is the variety among the three predominant trees. From left to right I see a coat rack, a fan, and a drinking straw. Even without such fanciful interpretations, the variety’s pleasing, and I think really adds to the image.

The trees were what attracted my eye first, Linda. I was walking the trail with a lot of trees and shrubbery between me and this scene, but I noticed the variety of shapes through all the other stuff and made my way in. Then a bunch of back and forthing to get the trees in a good position without obscuring each other. This would only have worked on a foggy day. Without it, there are hundreds of trees going for a good half mile beyond the fog. I love me a good fog.

We did the trip to Acadia at the onset of summer. Wish we had waited till now! Great photo of the fog and changing colors of the foliage.

Early June is a nice time (lots of lupines in Great Meadow) as is October. Thanks.

Lovely comp and colors Steve hoping for a beautiful fall here, we have had such a wet summer, it would be nice to see some color soon !!

Thanks, Bernie. All that wetness should produce nice color and, hopefully, prolong the time before the leaves fall.

Great composition with a variety of colors. Really looks like the beginning of fall. There is something about fog that adds much to a photograph. I like this scene a lot.

Thanks, Yvonne. I’ve walked this trail a bunch of times and looked out into the swamp each time thinking “there’s an image out there”. It finally happened. 🙂

Such a lovely contrast of rich colour and almost monotone fog.

The sun had not quite risen yet making the fog so evenly lit. A short time later the right side of this scene would have been too bright although the leaves would have a nice backlight on them.
