11.06.2019 Wahconah Falls

I’ve posted images of this waterfall a few times over the years.  It’s easily visited with just a short walk downhill…of course uphill on the way out, but quickly done. I’ve been fortunate that in all that time only one … Continue reading

06.30.2015 Wahconah Falls 2…a long view

From further back with a wider view showing some of the Wahconah Falls Brook leading away from the falls.  If I get out there again, I may try to get to the other side so I can place the downstream … Continue reading

06.29.2015 Wahconah Falls 1

Although it was still drizzling this morning I went for the one hour ride to Dalton and Wahconah Falls State Park.  It was fairly foggy in the Berkshire foothills as I approached but there wasn’t a lot in the gorge … Continue reading

07.09.2014 Big rock in the middle of the stream

Maybe I can rework Loudon Wainwright’s “Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road” to accompany this image.    🙂 The other day, I raised the question of what to do with the big rock that was contributing to the strong … Continue reading

09.03.2013 Wahconah Falls Once Again…your vote requested

A favorite place is a favorite place and that means repeat visits…a constant theme here at SGNP.  This past Monday, yesterday and Labor Day to boot, I drove through a light drizzle to Dalton to see if the rain had … Continue reading

02.09.2013 Wahconah Falls Cathedral

Here we are in the aftermath of Winter Storm Nemo and I am stuck at home recovering from the flu.  I just don’t seem to be in sync with this Winter and every time we have a nice weather event … Continue reading

09.12.2011 Wahconah Falls after the storms

After Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene and the better part of last week seeing steady rainfall, I thought Wahconah Falls was worth a visit.  The trip out there along Route 9 saw many streams running pretty high.  The Mill River in the … Continue reading

Here are two more waterfall images. Wahconah State Park has several levels of waterfalls.  The first image is the lower of the two shown in the second shot. The second image shows a natural dam between the two falls shown. … Continue reading
