Gymnoclytia sp.  A Tachinid fly.  These parasitic flies lay their eggs most often on the larvae of another insect, very often caterpillars, which dooms the host.  The adults feed on nectar.

06.16.2020 Let us flee said the fly…

but then he just sat there since there wasn’t a flea with whom to fly. Funny…I’ve never quite understood that as fleas don’t fly.  Of course, let’s jump said the fly wouldn’t carry the same cachet.
