I’m glad you saved your feet (and yourself) from the freezing water, Steve.
The waterfall conjures soft velvet, whereas the surrounding ice formations look quite sharp.

I generally try for contrasting textures, Tanya. Thank!

The swath of green is a neat touch. Perhaps it’s Spring’s spring water, springing over the rocks!

Spring was just itchin’ to get a goin’.

Had you not gotten cold feet you might have gotten even colder feet.

The water is only a few inches deep so if I was quick and got out before my hiking boots soaked through then maybe only chilly.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a tiara or two like that? 🙂

No need for cold feet since your photo turned out beautifully.

Thanks, Lynette! Another angle would have been nice but I was pleased with this as it is.

The contrast between the sharpness of the ice and the softness of the water creates a tension that gives the image a dynamic feel. Glad you didn’t go into the water…your feet would have been not cold but frozen!

Thanks, Ann! Yeah, boots full of cold water would have tested my metabolic stamina. 🙂

You captured the contrast between the solid and the fluid well. Good work, Steve; worth getting cold feet!

Thanks, Peter. I do try to capture that contrast whenever photographing moving water but especially in winter.

That’s beautiful! I’ve been looking at Tiaras and gorgeous pendants and jewels recently so, the ice and snow look like jewels surrounding the cascading water.

Thanks, Deborah! I mentioned tiaras to Eliza above and see that you have the same idea. Great minds. 🙂
