01.13.2023 Good Morning Friday the 13th!

To do my best at not saying something stupid on this auspicious occasion I decided to follow Robert’s advice and put a cork in it.Β  πŸ˜€

My first, silly thought was that someone left the fog-pot boiling. Then I set that aside, and spent some time appreciating the contrast between the warm sky and the cool valley: very nice.

    • My first, silly thought was that you wrote “frog” pot boiling. And then I thought you were riffing on the old story of a frog not noticing the water getting hotter in said pot.
Thanks. This is another view from the highway overlooking the reservoir.

Fabulous! The contrast between the glowing sky and the land really sings out to me. (Sounds odd maybe, but that’s how certain colour combinations make me feel. πŸ™‚ )

  3. You got me wondering why anyone would have considered a Friday the 13th unlucky. Here’s Wikipedia’s take on that:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th#

In particular, “While there is evidence of both Friday and the number 13 being considered unlucky, there is no record of the two items being referred to as especially unlucky in conjunction before the 19th century.”

  7. That’s a wonderful morning scene. My sister was born on a Friday 13th, so my family has declared those to be really lucky days.

    • It belies the busy highway directly behind me, Lynette. Folks on the way to work and large semis flying by. πŸ™‚ But if one concentrates on the scene in front of you the rest disappears in the moment. Thanks!

How lucky for us you lingered a bit at sunrise to share such a fabulous start to the day with those of us who were not as fortunate.

Love the whole scene. Corks notwithstanding, the fog above the water sets the tone.

    • More than a few times I have misjudged this scene. There are other locations along this route and once in awhile it looks as if nothing noteworthy will happen until I get five or ten miles down the road and the sky explodes. DOH!
There often is fog above the reservoir and that has varying shapes, sometimes like the rolling sea waves.
