From 2019 on this date, it was actually quite cold. But the sky was hot for a short time and I was lucky enough to be driving by the Pelham Lookout on US Route 202 at just the right moment.
Just a small bit of the reservoir is visible beneath the fog. It’s a favorite view for folks traveling along the highway and I am rarely the only one there. The state has created a nice pullover and it can get a bit crowded at times but most are there for the view and only a couple photographers with tripods to be counted.
Spectacular!
The colors are indeed warm looking. I see why you would count this as a favorite place to pull over any time to enjoy that view.

It’s a great spot. Sometimes the reservoir is cloaked in fog that resembles crashing waves. In Autumn there can be spectacular color in the foreground and no matter the time of year, there is always the possibility of a nice sunrise. The ten or so steps from the driver’s seat to the stone wall where one sets up is a challenge but worth it.

I applaud your state for creating a nice pullover. That wasn’t the case two months ago on New Mexico Highway 117, which goes past some great cliffs but offers no places for drivers to safely park. I had to pull over in some not-so-great places to take pictures.

While there are not pullovers in great spots all along our highways there are a few spots. This route is #202 which goes from Maine to Delaware. I’ve only traveled the part that is in Connecticut and Massachusetts but it is quite scenic there.

What a lovely overlook, and the fog really adds to the mystical quality. Terrific photo, Steve.

Thank you, Jet. Not quite the Pacific Coast Highway but Route 202 does offer some nice scenery. Fog is always an asset. 🙂

Gorgeous coloring in the sky and the mist really adds to the shot.

Many days I can count on some fog hanging over the reservoir. Especially on a cool night after a warm day. Thanks!

It was chilly but the advantage to this spot is that I was literally standing behind the car. For a change my hands did not get frosty.

It looks warm, at least. For once, we have some steam fog on the Gulf to match that shown in your photo.

And I got some ice. My critters’ 20″ wide water bowl was frozen solid this morning. It took me a minute to notice and figure out one peculiarity, though. The ice was an inch thick on the north side of the bowl, and nearly 4″ thick on the south. Apparently, our constant 35 mph wind was responsible.

The wind does sound like a good suspect in that mystery.

Of course looks can be deceiving. It was a chilly December morning. Did you get a chance to enjoy the fog yourself?

This is beautiful! I like what is happening in that little slice, between the foreground silhouette and the sky.

Thanks, Denise. I think that bit of fog completes the composition. Might still be nice without it but I was happy to have some foggy goodness.
