It’s getting pretty nippy out there– I pulled out my down coat today. Brrr!

Even with the recent warm days now a week sonce this post, there have been breezes and wind making those temps feel even chillier.

Frost’s an artisan, all right.

And a good one at that.

I like the baguette-shaped crystals strung along the ropes of round crystals. That long strand lying diagonally across the leaf sure would look good in diamonds.

I wonder if anyone has determined if every frost crystal is as different as snow flakes are. Yes diamonds would. They are sometimes called ice after all.

Even though it’s supposed to be almost summer here, on Saturday hail fell coating the ground ferociously.

Of course I am not familiar with your weather but we most often see hail here in the summer.

I keep seeing “granular data” or “getting down to granular level” in articles, this is a nice illustration of granular details.

When I open the weather forecast in the morning they always ask if I want the granularity of 15-minute forecasts. No, thank you, hourly is enough for me!

Same here.

Like Lynn mentions below, The Weather Channel app always uses that term. And also like Lynn I ignore the offer. Why pay for inaccuracies?

🙂 But they do seem to do the best job, or at least it’s one of the better ones and the information is clear. Yikes, we’re heading for a little snow this week! Not the norm this time of year.

Lovely! Frost-time is getting closer here- there was just a slight touch of it early in the morning.

Cold is not good for much but it does create some beautiful features.

This may be the one year that I’m hoping it really doesn’t get cold because so many folk are worrying about how to heat their homes. (But I will make the most of any frost here!)

What a nice study in textural detail.
Looks a bit like the steak I sprinkled with kosher salt prior to grilling.

I hope that it wasn’t as leathery as this leaf. I usually marinate my steak in Stubb’s but the idea of Kosher salt is appealing. Maybe I’ll give it a try next time. Thanks, Wally!

Thanks, Belinda! We’ve warmed up some but I bet you’re seeing frost most mornings now.

Not sure why but I thought it said Frog’s Artistry. Given the frost I’m glad to see a leaf instead. 🙂

I don’t think a frog would be too happy in frost.

Oh, man. This is wonderful. Love that you framed this close enough to make an abstract image

Part of that was the abstract desire and part was to rid the frame of unwanted extras. Thanks, Linda!

Cool. Cold, even. I wonder if the ice built up on the veins because they stuck up a little, or if there was still moisture in them? Artistic, in any case.

Studies have shown, none of those by me, that frost forms on raised surfaces. In fresh leaves those are usually the surfaces but on dried leaves the veins. So being stuck up is the reason it seems.

Thank you! I can credit Bentley for taking me for a walk so I could see this. Good dog! 🙂
