Last year at this time I visited the property of the new headquarters of the Kestrel Land Trust here in Amherst. There was a nice mix of colors and light. This image was made shortly after last year’s post as the sun rose higher and the light grew stronger. It’s a slightly different composition as well.
I haven’t visited here this year and should take a look again but by Saturday I think the foliage will have faded. Or not.
I enjoy all fall foliage photos.

I’ve noticed the effects of last night’s frost are bringing a lot of leaves down… it was a glorious peak while it lasted!

Of course this is not from this year’s crop of foliage but is indicative of the beauty we did see. Considering the stress the summer affected on all plants it was a pleasant surprise to see the level of color this autumn.

Reds can be dramatic, but this shading of yellow into orange (or vice-versa) is especially nice.

The warmth of yellow and orange is always a pleasure but red gets all the glory.

Thanks, Robert. Despite its awards and popularity I’ve never seen the movie…so far.

It is. I often envy those who live elsewhere for some of the spectacular places I’ll never visit. But I do appreciate what is here near my home too. Thanks, Tanja!

This photo is absolutely stunning. It’s not just the colors, reflections and light, but also all that great shadow detail along the shoreline.
