I like how you kept the frontmost leaf sharp.

The frontmost was foremost in my plan.

Uh-oh, another sign that summer is waning. Still lovely to see. 🙂

I was surprised to see these so fully blooming. I have a bunch in a barrel planter in the yard and they haven’t even formed large buds yet. But summer is moving right along, that’s for sure. Wish it was a wetter summer.

Same here, quite the contrast to last summer. Feast or famine, I guess.

You mentioned these once or twice when I posted some of our prairie gentians. It’s good to see these; they’re remarkably pretty. How do the pollinators get to the ‘good stuff’ with these?

The only pollinators that can get inside are bumblebees because of their size and strength. I have a barrel of these outside our backdoor so might get a chance to study them going in and out. I had fringed gentians in there too but they did not come back. Those are biennials so I am hoping they show themselves next year but I think there should be small immature plants this year so probably not.
