This is my favorite sort of sunburst: partially obscured, so that the sun doesn’t hog the spotlight. The ground fog and reflection make it quite a special image, not to mention the primarily horizontal rays. I like those as much as images that have rays extending all around the sun.

I actually tried to hide most of the sun. This was with the iPhone and that does not handle the brightness of direct sunlight very well. The fact that the beams stood out really made me want to make this image. Although I often have the entire sun showing, I also prefer it to be a little obscured which really allows the rays to have some form.
I agree. Happy July 4th!
Thank you, Belinda!
Beautiful Sun Fireworks, this looks like a very beautiful location!!
Thanks, Shawn. It’s a national wildlife refuge a couple of miles from my home.
Elegant image, Steve… the sun burst, fog, pond and reflections. Happy 4th to you!
Thanks, Ellen. I hope you and Ted had a nice fourth.
I like those solar fireworks.
No noise to scare the animals and the complete spectrum…if only we could see it.
Happy July 4th! – So sorry to hear about the shooting….
Thanks, Rudi. It is a sad situation without any answers, it seems.
Beautiful sunburst, Steve!
Very nice. Well done!
Beautiful image Steve! Great natural “Fireworks” display!!
Thank you, Allison!
Quiet, peaceful and appropriate for wildlife. That’s a gorgeous photo!
We have a neighbor who shoots off fireworks every 4th. Fortunately our dog doesn’t seem bothered by them but I imagine others are. And of course non-domesticated animals must be troubled. The sun offers a much better and peaceful view. Thanks, Tina!
NICE … the quiet kind of fireworks!
Having a firecracker crazy neighbor really makes me appreciate this sort of display even more than would anyway.
