11.07.2021 Autumn Frost

This could be the start of something.Β  We’ve had a few frosts in the past week but yesterday was my first opportunity to do something beside scraping the windshield.

Frosted Red Oak Leaves in MacLeod Field.

Season of the silver outline! We’ve had some very pretty frosts in England too, although it’s warmer this week. It has been an unusually dry and scenic November so far (a month better known here for grey skies and endless rain!)

    • Or we could say “silver linings’. πŸ™‚ We are going to warm up a tiny bit also so I am not sure if I will see this kind of frost for a while. We get a fair amount of similar weather in November and December aptly called “stick season”.

It is amazing how the frost managed to draw a distinct outline around the colourful autumn leaves.

If this is a start I like where it appears to be going. πŸ™‚ I’ve scraped the windshield just twice so far, but haven’t yet gotten past that. You’ve provided some nice inspiration to try to.

The warmth of the colors make for a terrific contrast with the frosty edges. Beyond that, the shape and twist of the leaves is appealing. You did a wonderful job of getting some separation among them.

    • The topmost leaf was my main subject then walking around got me to the right spot for the others. I also liked the varied shapes and had a hard time deciding where to end the frame edges. There were many similar small oaks like this but none had the layout I was looking for.
