When visiting Acadia N.P. I always try to take in this waterfall. Sometimes the water flow is a trickle but this time it was heavy as we had rain off and on for most of the time we were there. I don’t think very many people know about it or visit but it is interesting so I shoot it when I can. As I parked my car near by a park maintenance worker pulled in with a backhoe. They were cleaning up the bottom of the stream and when I told him where I was going even he didn’t know about the waterfall.
It was raining and the light was pretty flat. The surrounds were a bit messy as well so I framed just the cascading water. I love the stairstep feature with all that tumbling.
So for you the stairstep is a starestep.

There’s always a song, even for a tumbling waterfall.

A beautiful waterfall, I can just imagine how nice it would be to sit beside it.

There are not many comfortable seats here but the sound is wonderful.

Very nice capture of the cascading flow and the steps, Steve. I like the three smaller flows on the lower right, too–they make a nice accent to the tumult in the middle.
And how nice to find someplace unknown within Acadia NP especially this year, with so much in the local news there about record crowds.

There are a lot of nice features here and the amount of flow reveal more after a good rain. It is relatively unknown. I know a pro who has published several books of Acadia images who recognized it right away. But he’s one of the small number.

You captured that movement beautifully,. There’s nothing like the sound of water, whether a trickle from a creek or a full-on waterfall–so nice!

Thanks, Tina! This was very relaxing although loud. Not quite a private waterfall but close to it.
