09.10.2021 Frog Friday

I found this guy hanging around in Moosehorn Pond a while back.  Although I don’t think he was actually gripping the twig it does appear that way and a bit menacing as well.   🙂

I’ll be taking a blogging break for a few days. Catch ya on the other side.

    • Thanks, Tina. It was a very short one. More about that to come.

      He’s a he. That circle behind the eyes is a tympanum, a hearing organ. It’s a membrane that protects the inner ear and allows the frog to hear both in and out of water. I know you didn’t ask about that but I am mentioning it because if the tympanum is larger than the eye it is a male, smaller a female. True for green frogs also. There you go…more than you might have wanted to know. 🙂
