I was just about to leave Moosehorn Pond last Saturday when I spotted this Eastern Painted Turtle-Chrysemys picta picta enjoying some relaxing time on a log. I spoiled it by stopping to photograph her and after a few exposures down she went. I both thanked and apologized as I got back in the car.
I’ve made a few images of turtles on this log and hoped for one more. Wish granted. And, yup, I did make a new bullfrog image.
So you logged another one for Thurtlesday.

That I did for the inaugural edition. Hopefully I will see more so it’s not a one off.

Each turtle that leaves a log is one off.

Thanks, Jane. I try to approach carefully and speak reassuringly but they just don’t buy it. 🙂

Maybe she had already been there a while and your arrival was a reminder that she needed to get on with her day. That’s how my chair-sitting works. 🙂

That’s possible and maybe assuages my ego as I get that response from most of the ladies.

This morning while out on my bike ride I passed a desert tortoise crossing the highway. I hit the brakes and was heading back to move him (her) off the roadway, when an auto going in the opposite direction came to a screeching halt, did a U-turn and pulled up behind the tortoise, jumped out and took care of getting it to safety. First time I’ve ever had to fight someone for the opportunity to help wildlife!
Nice pic.

Thanks, Bob.
I wish I experienced that fight. I had a similar but sadly different encounter on the way to work one morning. As I started to oull over to help a large painted cross the road the a-hole behind me ran it over. I use the euphemism because he swerved to do it. I slowed down in front of him, 20mph in a 50 zone, and when he passed showed my opinion.

I do that often, Steve–thank and apologize an animal at the same time. I aim for greater stealth, but am not there yet. 😊

My stealthiness leaves a bit to be desired. I even thank flowers and of course they aren’t going anywhere.

Glad to know I’m not alone in this, though it’s usually to bees or butterflies. I find myself apologising to butterflies that land on my t-shirts because, despite their colours, there’s no nectar there, hehe!

We should not wear clothing that simulates food, I guess. 🙂

He looks rather grumpy for having his solitude disrupted! 😀

They are not big fans of company.

I don’t know. There’s a slight suggestion that it’s rolling its eyes, as if to say, “I ask you — is a little peace and quiet too much to ask?”

I did provide quiet and tried not to disturb her peace but obviously after a few moments I did exactly that.
