The bullfrogs are back in healthy numbers in Poor Farm Swamp. Most were not in a good position for photography, lounging under the shrubs and grasses that grow along the banks of the ponds but all the mating sounds were as ever…loud and resonating. All that is except for this one guy who just couldn’t muster a full throated croak. I spent a fair amount of time trying to capture him with his throat fully filled with air but this was the best he could manage. I guess the hormones just were not coursing through his body quite yet. Practice croaks maybe.
Today is day one of my spring staycation. Lots of stuff on the honey do list (including prepping for a new fridge and upright freezer delivery this afternoon) but I expect to be out with the camera a bit too. 🙂
He was sorth waiting for the right shot Steve !

I’ve captured better inflations but not in a while. Thanks, Rudi. Here’s the best one.

Nice yellow! I calculated that my local green frogs could be heard 1 km away!

I can believe it. The longer the croak goes the better chance of attracting a mate. Thanks, Denzil!

I suspect one thing you won’t be using your camera on is the new fridge and freezer.

Not to worry, Eliza. This morning’s post is evidence of that. 🙂

Perhaps he is a philosopher and avoids the noisy crowd.

Very possible, Peter. I have photographed a bullfrog deep in thought before.

Thanks, Sel. Lots to do and great to have a few non-working days to get some accomplished.

It’s nice to see the frogs again. Who knows? Maybe this will be the year I finally get to photograph one, instead of just having a kerplunk and a circle of ripples as evidence of their presence.

I missed making them, Pete. It’s so nice to walk by the ponds and hear their croaking. Thanks!
