04.10.2021 Sun Fire

I’ve been driving by these birches for years and always thought I should stop but never did until this morning when the rising sun was washing them with fire.

I happened by at just the right time as ordinarily I’ve spent a while in the North Quabbin area and drive through here mid-morning.  I did shoot sunrise but made it here shortly after that. Dumb luck but I’ll take it. The layers of light and color really worked out well, I think.

The trees look like our little bluestem in fall, after the grasses have taken on color. They’re lovely, especially with the complementary bright green.

  4. You’ve got echoes of Robert Frost here: “Fire and Ice,” “Birches,” “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” (though of course with no snow this time).

  5. Really beautiful. You can call it luck, very lucky you happened by to preserve that beautiful moment.

  7. Lovely, for a moment I thought it was a bright Cornus, like Midwinter Fire, though these are now putting on leaf.

It worked out very well. Looking at this you can understand why people thought of cutting branches to make magic wands.
