  1. One of your tags indicates bloodroot. Are the roots really red?

Your macro shot of the flower petals gives me the impression of a fan ready to rotate with its beautiful centre. Well done, Steve!

One month to go to — what? The appearance of this flower? Your first Covid shot? The last of the snow and ice? Inquiring minds want to know. In the meantime, I’ll admire this glorious flower.

Building the anticipation! During a hike today we came across an old 1800’s homestead in the forest and all around what used to be the house were clusters of some flowering bulb (I often confuse the different species). There were a couple early blooms, but most were still getting ready. Not long now.

    • That’s a nice find, still the work of the former inhabitants showing life and spring’s beauty. I come across that occasionally in our forests also. There’s an anticipation about spring’s approach unlike any other season.
