    Once I spotted the bit of green in the upper right, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. It somehow seemed as weighty as the curving bubbles.

    Ice always has something new to offer up if you’ve the eye to find it. And you certainly do! I noticed the first ice in a local creek this morning, though only an incredibly thin layer in very small and still areas.
