12.24.2020 Harvard Pond Dam Waterfall

The abstract I posted the other day was just to the left of this falling water.  The waterfall is the result of a man made dam which helps keep the pond full.  There are a few beavers but they can tend to other things rather than repair a dam. I wonder if that frustrates them?

    Hello my friend Steve,
There is a grey shadow over Christmas this year.
Nevertheless, I wish you and your loved ones a merry and contemplative Christmas.

  3. This makes a great interlaced curtain of water, nice!

  4. This seems different from your many other waterfall pictures. I guess that’s because the rim of the dam causes the water to flow in a more orderly way—the interlaced curtain that Robert described.

    • I would guess that when first built the rocks all were vertically in the same plane but over time some have shifted creating the variety of patterns in the fall. I have posted one or two individual cascades from this but this was the first somewhat all encompassing view.

For a fairly simple image there’s a lot to look at and enjoy in this one. Really nice patterns formed by the water. I like it!

Now that’s a different kind of ‘shower curtain!’ 😉

Without any context at all, I would have guessed this was a fountain rather than a waterfall. I wonder if the constructed dam is what gives it the appearance of more ‘organized’ water. It has a somewhat different feel to it than others of your waterfall photos; the difference is intriguing.

  8. I’ve been away from blogging until recently and have missed your wonderful photography. This abstract of the waterfalls is splendid!! Now I must go see what you called the ‘abstract’ from ‘the other day’.
