This little waterfall in Dean Brook is almost always reliable for a good image. There wasn’t quite as much ice as I expected but enough so I could include some as an interesting foreground element.
Mary Beth noticed that my pant legs were wet when I got home.ย ๐ย At least they had thawed by then.
The foreground ice is a good touch indeed. It’s an appropriate picture for the official beginning of winter.

Than ks, Steve. I got down as low as I could without kneeling in the water. I was tempted. As it was the water wicked up my jeans and eventually froze making for stiff pants.

Even the kind of thigh-high rubber boots that I have and that I’ve mentioned to you at other times probably wouldn’t have let you kneel in the water, unless the water was pretty shallow where you wanted to get lower.

I do have a pair of hip boots and the water is shallow enough to kneel in those without taking on water but walking in the snow would be challenging.

From frogs to fog to winter fabulosity — what a wonderful image.

Thank you! Now if there was a way to combine frost with frogs and frost, wouldn’t that be cool. Maybe something like this. ๐

Wonderful~from the trees in the background and all the way up to the details in the foreground, this image has so much for the eye to play around in.

Thanks, Melissa! It’s a great location and there are a lot of compositions that work from wide angle to macros.

There’s certainly enough ice to capture how cold it was. This looks like a nice location, I love the angle of the flowing water towards you.

It is my favorite spot for waterfall/cascade photography. Although I have made dozens of images here I still visit and often am able to make something a little different. Several of my abstract ice images are from here a bit downstream.

I worked at a few positions before this one. All similar but at different heights. Thanks, Linda!
