Before the frosty heron incident, there was this setting full moon, the second of the month so “Blue”.
I wanted to catch it low when it would be reflecting the warmth of the rising sun but only had a few moments before it sank into the fog bank that would soon envelop the valley and block the view of the Holyoke Range I had visualized for a later shoot over Hop Brook.
That carries such a feel of late autumn.

I was hoping for a bit more snow on the foreground grasses to give a better feeling of how cold it was but I think it shows anyway. Thanks, Adele!

Oh, that deep blue feels so wintery – and mysterious. I love the contrast with the warm colour of the moon.

It was funny how blue the sky was. Of course this was during “blue hour” but the sky was quite clear. A fog bank in the west was below the moon and soon filled the valley…goodbye moon. Thanks, Ann!

Nice Steve! Really like the βwarmβ color of the moon!

Thanks, Reed. I think it would have been even warmer had it not drifted behind the fog bank as the sun rose.

You kept on shooting while the moon kept on shining.

And I would have kept on if the moon had kept on. It was a nice fog bank though.

The fog bank had more interest that our savings accounts these days.

Yes. We just moved some money from a bank that was paying 0.25% to 1%. Hardly better than stuffing your mattress.

Which bank is still paying 1%? I might follow your lead.

A beautiful clear, distinct moon against the blues of the foliage. Great shot!

I hope so. Maybe I heard a bit of mandolin as I composed this.

I can’t believe I missed the Blue Moon, but I sure did. Your capture is gorgeous, although it’s hard to comprehend it’s that cold up there already.

Thanks, Linda. If you think it’s hard for you…. π
Despite what people say, once in a blue moon is fairly often depending on one’s sense of time. The next one is in August although that will be a seasonal and not monthly.
