10.23.2020 Flashback Friday…Atherton Brook Waterfall

I was reminded of this image yesterday and thought to share it today.  When I posted it in 2012 I didn’t know most of you folks so thought to bring it up to date processing-wise and give it some light and a wider audience.  Hope you like it.

I have shared images from this location a few times, most recently last April 29, as it is a made up of a nice collection of cascades. I’ve yet to see it totally swamped but after our next deluge maybe this will be a destination.

I like this wider perspective even more than the one you brought us in April, and you’ve done fine re-processing work. It is so rewarding to revisit favorite places–and images.

This one is fantastic, I’m glad you brought it back. Beautiful framing and I like the tones on the forest floor at the top. Certainly looks like a location worth revisiting from time to time.

    • Another visit here was my first major hike after the WNV episode. Well worth the effort then and I will visit more in the future. Besides the waterfall there are many interesting cascades which I have shared in other posts. The neat thing about cascades in this brook is winter changes them so each year offers something new. The waterfall has remained constant. Thanks, Todd.

I like this wider angle a lot, too, and the beautiful glimpse of the surrounding forest.

  5. Improvements in software, along with changes in our esthetics, make it worthwhile to reprocess some of our old images. I think we’ve all experienced that.

Lovely cascades, Steve – it’s nice to hear water flowing again in our stream, but still not up to ‘normal.’

Very pretty, and it’s nice to see it in different seasons and from different angles.

I especially like the different widths of the falls: wide on the right, and increasingly narrow toward the left. There’s another little detail that gave me a smile, too. Do you see the Ankh in the background? Maybe that’s why the scene seems so lively!

    • Wow, I did not see that until you pointed it out. Guess I couldn’t see the Ankh for the trees. 🙂
I also like all the different cascades that make up this waterfall. That said, I do hope to be able to visit at the height of the spring melt to see what this looks like inundated.
