10.08.2020 Milkweed Floss

While on Mount Pollux I had fun running around to all the milkweed seed displays.  This was my favorite.

  1. The word that came to mind unbidden was “dramatic.”

  3. A very nice composition. The pod looks like old, weathered metal.

Your running around was well rewarded! I’m hoping for some nice fluffy seed heads on my Japanese anemones…will have a while to wait yet. (Even better if they get frosted or snowed upon.)

What a great shot, Steve. Love the dark palette which highlights the white floss. The anticipation is killing me! 🙂

The colors are interesting. I usually see ours in shades of green and brown. The metallic sheen is lovely, and the blues and grays are especially appealing.

    • I did not see it as metallic at all but now I am getting the idea of a metal’s aged patina the more I look at it. I had thought leather. Probably the blue is coming from the sky as ours are green then brown also. But everything was dewy and may have been reflecting the sky overhead.

Just like you’re in a museum, right? 🙂 I like the coyness of this, like a dancer posing with a fan. The pod texture, the drops on the fluff and even the individual seeds are all so clear, it’s beautiful.
