09.27.2020 Quabbin Foliage

Some early color at the opening of the Quabbin Spillway which runs to the left.  Of course, ain’t much spillin’ going on currently unless we get a box of rain.

I saw a patch of colored foliage yesterday that was about the size of your foreground color. It was wonderful, although it never will grow up to rival what’s coming for you!

That looks like the perfect fishin spot to me!

    • The reservoir does allow fishing but not in this particular area. There is a limited season, licenses are required, and one must go to specific gates. Boats are allowed from a couple of launches but they are very picky about their cleanliness so nothing invasive takes over. Of course, if you are talking about fishing for nice compositions then yes, this is the spot. 🙂

You sent me right down the rabbit hole enjoying that song and then looking for an album with it on it. It isn’t on the ones I have~guess I need to add to my collection.
As to the photo, I really love this. My new favorite! Hope you get some rain soon. We could sure use some as well.

  4. This is magnificent, Steve. Did you make a long exposure or was the water really that flat? And the good old Grateful Dead. You know, I lived in an interesting place: They played at a rec hall dance we had in 1966.

    • Thank you, Mike. The water was flat and the wind calm.Just half a sec.I only saw them once. An odd coincidence. Earlier in the day some friend were exploring a cave and their dog fell into a bottomless hole in front of them. His name was Blue. At the Dead concert that night they did their song “He’s gone” ..Oooooo, nothing’s gonna bring him back. Of course to me it sounded like “Blue”.
When I had my “hippie” coming out a friend gave me their first album for my birthday. She thought it would open my mind or in the Dead’s parlance “blow my mind”. It did. 🙂

Lovely, Steve. The lack of rain and cool weather we’ve had are certainly pushing the color along.

Just a touch of color can be just enough in shots like this. A beautiful and calming image.
