I am a Nature Photographer with interests in all things related. Water, flowers, insects and fungi are my main interests but I am happy to photograph wildlife and landscapes and all other of Nature's subjects.
Wow. Your first image could be an introductory scene from a Jurassic Park episode. And what a super portrait of the spider, yet another that I have yet to meet in person.
Having never seen Jurassic Park I wouldn’t make that connection but glad it strikes you as worthy of being considered cinematic. Had you been there with me you might have met several dozen as there was a spider on almost every blade of grass…exaggeration. But there were many. I guess the kids all stayed close to home.
The rays are spectacular. You know me and simplification: I probably would’ve sought a vantage point for a composition of simply the tree and the rays and nothing else.

Thanks for that thought–I’d love to have been there with you. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a field full of webs like that.

Fantastic garden spider!

Thanks, Lori. They are not uncommon although I haven’t found one in any of our gardens, only meadows and fields.

Backlighting is a nature photographer’s friend.

I like most light but sidelighting is my favorite.

Then here’s to sidelighting, with some backlighting on the side.

Nice autumnal hues. Love the sparkly bokeh!

Thanks, Eliza. I’ve made better spider portraits but the bokeh is why I shared this one.

Two dramatically different subjects united by a common theme of back lighting. The sky in the first image is especially striking.

Thanks, Mike. The crepuscular rays were what made the image for me although it would have worked with just the backlighting.

I considered that…there is still time.

I suspect that spider’s admiring its handiwork, just as we’re admiring your photo.

There were dozens of similar webs with occupants. I was like a kid in a candy shop but it was a challenge to wander around and not harm any.
