Our sunrises the last few days have been affected by smoke from the fires out west. I’ll share some of those iPhone shots later. But this morning we had clear skies and I finally was able to shoot a sunrise…and without a crowd nearby. I was surprised that no one else was there to photograph the dawn or sunrise. Two cars came in but took quick snaps from their cars and paid no attention to what was happening to the north. I thought there would be others as I followed two vans full of people all the way up there from Amherst and figured photography club. Happily I was wrong.
I did make a few exposures to the east and haven’t processed any of those yet but if there is one worth sharing I shall.
Sweet view. Definitely a frosty one this morning!

“Frost” in Austin this morning meant the temperature plunged into the chilly 60s.

It’s all relative.

It certainly was chilly and I dressed for it but still shivered a bit. 🙂

No sunrise here today — only the cloud cover provided by Tropical Storm Beta. It’s being rather well-behaved, and so far there’s only coastal flooding, with impassable roads and water well over the dunes. I think landfall’s tomorrow, but it’s going to be Wednesday or Thursday before it moves away, so your sunrise is especially appreciated.

Happy to share some of our sun with you. I think Houston saw a lot of water from what I’ve seen on the news. I envy your wildflowers and the long season for blooms but not the threat of hurricanes/severe storms you have to deal with annually.

Those clouds are delicious.

I had to wait them out as they drifted across the sky. It’s funny how often the light to the north, at least at this location, can be more interesting than to the east. Thanks!

to start the day!

That it was, Gary. This location often is a great place to begin a day with some wonderful sunrises and twilight dawns.
