Before wandering around in the swamp yesterday, I drove down Southeast Street to see if there was fog in the lowlands. There was. I parked by what has been known as Thistlebloom Farm, formerly aka Madwoman Farm, and made a few images before and as the sun rose. This is the one I chose from the litter.
The property was finally sold and the new owners are doing renovations including solar panels which I framed out. Seems more rustic without them. Whether they will keep the name remains to be seen. They haven’t removed her self portraits, which I have never photographed but should, from the windows yet.
A note of satisfaction is that I finally learned how to remove lens flare.

It still needs some practice to be an actual flair but the process is a whole lot easier and better than how I had been doing it.

Certainly no place for solar panels in such a pastoral scene.
You know, there are actually plug-ins now to ADD solar flare to images where none exist…go figure.

Yes, I have seen those and video tutorials as well. Someone must find value in that…not I.

Thistlebloom Farm has a very nice ring to it, but Madwoman Farm? You can’t expect us to simply roll over and accept that without a few additional belly-rubs. Surely there’s a story (or history) behind that that’s worth sharing with us?! BTW, that’s one really lovely, foggy sunrise.

It’s pretty bad that I am so slow in my responses that Linda had to answer your question. She was a bit of a character. One window had her dressed in just a towel seemingly just out of the shower. Another had her dressed like Carmen Miranda.. She was a psychotherapist and apparently felt those expressions gave her an aura of understanding for people needing her services.

I recognized that silo. It would be great if you could get some photos of those self-portraits, before they’re gone forever: as they surely will be. I especially like the way you’ve portrayed the sun, with that half-starburst. It does emphasize the light beginning to ‘touch’ the land.

They are kind of hidden behind trees but I will try to do a walk by and capture them before they are gone. Often a half risen sun doesn’t cause quite as strong a flare and until this time I hesitated to allow more sun and get worse flaring. And I like your idea that it expresses “touch” to the land.

This has a real classic rustic look to it. Beautiful. And good idea creating some images now in case it does all change with the new owners.

It’s hard to tell their intent from a distance. They had a large roll off dumpster there for a while and filled it with a lot of stuff. But the solar panels are the only outward sign of change and the realtor’s online pictures showed the interior as fairly up to date. So hopefully the only diffrenece will be some goats. 🙂
