A side view of the cascade I posted on Thursday. I liked the mossy rock and wanted to give it its due. I composed for the entire back upper right slab also but that introduced too much of the dried pale leaves so I cropped a little tighter. The slab is still somewhat present and helps to close the frame.
As with other parts of the country it has returned to March here with cold temperatures and 30-40 mph gusty winds. Tonight may get below freezing so who knows, I might be photographing ice again.
Beautiful scene, Steve. I love all that green covering on the banks.

Thanks, Pete. Green does dress up the scenery.

I saw a national weather report on television a little while ago and was surprised how cold the northeast part of the country has gotten.

Yes, they had a fair amount as did New Salem where I often visit. Here we had none.

I love the moss and lichens – they add so much to a scene.

They do. It’s nice to see life living on a rock. 🙂

Yeah, I think my heater came on last night. I’d been getting used to it not running for a while there. This is a very pleasant little scene. I definitely see the draw to that beautiful mossy rock.

It’s all my fault, Todd. A few days before the temperature dropped I posted on FB about not having to get the wood stove going at night. Poof. Several nights running but at least not in the morning any longer. And my furnace went on too. The wood stove’s heat doesn’t turn the corner to my study. Thanks.

Ooooh, this I like very much, Steve. The glowing greens amid the more somber browns really make it sing!

Thanks, Gary. Of course the water drew me to make the photograph but the rock completed it for me. Glad you like it too.

I like the framing – it’s all very streamlined looking, and very pleasing.

Thanks, Lynn. My first impulse is usually to get right in and make a head on shot like the previous but seeing the path from the side can be just as interesting. Glad that you enjoyed it. 🙂
