I made a trip to my favorite neighborhood tree for sunrise this morning. But it is now sunset as I post and the almost full moon is on the rise. I think there may be a chance to shoot the moon tomorrow morning before the clouds come in. So it’s off to bed to rise at 4…or earlier if Bentley gets hungry.

Very nice sunset. Tonight is a “super moon” and tomorrow is the full moon, both a great opportunity for pics. Also the comment Atlas is making a pass between now and mid May, close enough for pics.

Thanks, Bob. I wasn’t able to get out last night for the precise moment of super but did this morning. Kind of cloudy right now as the moon is up but still below our neighborhood trees. We’ll see. I’ll keep an eye out for the comet.

Sorry… that’s “comet.”

I guessed that. Typos are something I do a lot of.

Wow that’s gorgeous! If I keep clicking via Reader I can eventually access your full-size image but if I go via your blog I can’t access the full size as I described before – apparently due to the file name being displayed quite large at the bottom along with comment and reply functions. I think there’s a WP setting that controls that, if I can find it I’ll let you know – you don’t need those functions on the enlarged images.

Have just sent you an email that may help you get rid of that info that comes up on the enlarged image at your blog.

Sunrise . . . sunset . . .no two are ever quite alike and nearly all of them are worth taking the time for a closer look than just a passing glance.

As photographers we often get so wound up making our images that we don’t always appreciate the awe of the moment. But they are all wonderful, offering us the beginning of new possibilities.

Well said, and worthy of much contemplation.

That is beautiful, Steve. The light really shines in this sunrise. I hope you get your shots of the moon!

Thanks, Pete. I got one this morning and am hopeful for tonight’s. I hope you got yours as well.

I like the “underlining” of the cloud at the left.

They are all lit from beneath. It was very enjoyable watching the light progress across the sky as it hit each of the clouds.

No sunset, sunrise, or moon for us; I hope your skies were clear this morning. The clear space to the left of the trees suggests the clouds coming in from the right are getting ‘snagged’ by the tree: their forward progress stopped.

They were. I hope yours are tonight. That’s funny. It does look as you described but I wouldn’t have thought so as they were actually traveling left to right. I had to chase across the field to try to keep the tree in the gap. So I was the one moving right to left.

It seems we have a Moon Nazi: “No moon for you!” But, there’s sea fog in the forecast. I just might have to do some exploring in the morning to see what’s what.

Not that I am jaded by the full moon, but given a choice I would take the fog….sea, ground or otherwise.

Sometimes without a compass one could pass a sunrise as a sunset, beautiful composition!

Thanks. Anyone who knows me can tell which part of the day it is. 🙂 I am more of a morning person and have rarely made a sunset image. Usually if it is that part of the day I am shooting the rising full moon.
