Heading back into the archives from that dark period in the winter of 2017-8. Why I didn’t post much then I have no idea, but I was shooting a lot just the same.
Some places just keep offering new views and composition opportunities. It’s great to have such a rich go to location so close to home…just a few minutes drive. Nature is constantly changing, sometimes quickly and others more gradually. Winter is a great example of that.
That is a stunning image, Steve! You have captured the silky movement of the water and the details in the ice wonderfully! It’s always great when a new photo opportunity arises.

Thanks, Pete. Some of my favorite moments are by moving water and having some of it frozen is a special treat.

Did you do any macros of those formations, with their stalactites and stalagmites of ice?

Nope. I will eventually.

I love those secondary tiers of ice. Tear-drops/bells are my favorite.

Thanks, Elias. Yes, my favorites too are the crystal clear smooth drops.

Beautiful, Steve. And as you say – having such opportunities close is a gift.

Thanks, Ann-Christine. It’s important to look at home before travelling afar, I think.

You are so right – but for many of us it is more the other way around – what is in your own country or town you tend to neglect or miss out on.

Yes, that is very true. There is much to see right in our own yards, communities, and towns if we only look.

Makes me think of textile art – silk and lace – lovely!

Thanks, Ann. I think I titled one these that way.

I’m thinking these structures might be called stalactice.

Another beautiful interplay of static and dynamic. I’m glad this made the cut.

Thank you, Mike. I have so much in the archives that needs to be reviewed. I guess not going out is an opportunity to catch up but not going out is also missing opportunities.

I would encourage looking at the bright side. You apparently have bountiful archives.

Did you see the owl peering out at you from behind the flowing water?

Ha, no I did not. I didn’t know we had water owls around here. 🙂
