I have to give credit to a friend who saw this as a bird. I had posted it in portrait orientation and she had to turn her head to see it flying. 🙂
Evidence of my lack of imagination.

I see it more as a bat than a bird. Some might say that’s evidence of how batty I am. Others might extend that to all of us nature photographers.

I am fairly batty myself most often. I consider it an asset.

I’d say your skills rose to the occasion with this one.

Thanks, Linda. It’s quite a learning curve and I am glad that it’s only pixels getting thrown away with all the attempts.

Nice one. 🙂 I’m working at it but realism artfully presented is still my main goal and what I like the best. But it is nice to add to the repertoire.

I disagree – not seeing something as something else isn’t evidence of a lack of imagination. I’m being picky here, but I think there are many types of minds and many ways of seeing, and the quality we call imagination is much bigger than we might think. (And I like it both ways).

Either way I like also. I joke about my lack of imagination because, for the most part, I don’t see the things that others do. But often others don’t see what I do so we’re all even. 🙂 As I just mentioned to Michael above, I’ll be looking for ways to add a little newness to my seeing and expressing what I see but I do know what I like to be doing and I also know that I like what I see others doing but don’t always feel drawn to be influenced by them. That said, I am constantly learning from most all the folks whose blogs I follow and who articulate to some degree what their goal is. Learning is and should be a lifelong quest.

The remark about liking what you see others doing but not necessarily being interested in being influenced by that is a good distinction to make. I think learning is constant too, and it’s a big part of the pleasure of this blogging business. 😉

I made a few of my own too, Dave. All kinds of youthful distractions from life’s greater challenges. And now that you mention it…yeah.
