06.18.2019 90° to the East

Upon first arrival yesterday morning, the horizon appeared blocked which encouraged looking northward yielding the dawn image.  But as time passed the clouds thinned and the sun rose above them.

  1. Beautiful. And was a certain George Harrison song running through your head?

  2. You made me think of the ending of Walden again: “Only that day dawns to which we are awake. There is more day to dawn. The sun is but a morning star.”

The dark band of trees is a nice touch. I count five or even six layers, depending — and the half-starburst is especially interesting. I like it.

    • If you look closely at the image when clicked you will notice the subtle upper half of the starburst. Just too bright. I tried to process the image to enhance the upper part but it started to cause artifacts so left it as is. Lots of contrasting layers and I tried not to open the shadows too much and lose or diminish them too much.
