The season has finally arrived.  This is a bumper crop year for Lady’s Slippers.

Of course, there will be more.  This is just day one.  🙂

    Now, this is a photo to slip into. The colors are luscious, and the criss-crossing of the lines, vertical in the sepals and diagonal-to-horizontal in the bloom really are interesting. The downward curve of the entire flower gives it a nice sense of weight, too.

      Thanks, Linda. I almost passed this by as there were dozens to choose from and, as I was packing to leave, this one seemed to beckon. Probably just me noticing it but the bloom did seem happy for the attention. 🙂

        Well, call me crazy, but.. there are times when I suddenly slam on the brakes because I sense that there’s “something” to photograph. I may not know what it is until I get out and look around. Odd.

        And then there are the times when you see something on the way back. But I know what you mean. Places often beckon and challenge us to observe.
