It’s kind of hard to believe but I just did a search for sunrises from this location and Google only shows my shots. It’s hard to believe there are no others so I guess they just don’t put them in the internet. There isn’t a lot of foreground interest besides the odd boulder, but it’s still a great view. Good spot for a full moon rising too.

That’s a nice seven-rayed starburst.

Thanks. This was with the Canon 24-70 @f/22 but the starburst is softer than I like. Nice enough although I like those from the 16-35 Mark II better.

You missed a finger…there are 8 rays.

There sure are. Now I have no idea how I came up with seven.

You’re right, this is a great view. And the foreground seems just enough.

Thanks, Todd. I’ve shot that horizon with no foreground, lots of water qualifies I guess, and it is still interesting if the sky blasts.

I don’t think the boulder is odd at all; it’s just right. In fact (speaking of illusions), there’s almost a sense of the light being anchored at the rock. Maybe I’ve seen too many windmills with stars on top of them at Christmas — or just enough that this brings them to mind.

It’s good that the rock was there or the reflection might have burned a trail right through my legs and beyond.
