  2. Flaming glory is what I see in this one. Just an incredible image. This one should have put some pep in your step when you saw this sunrise early one morning.

    This certainly gives some body to that old metaphor about dawn’s rosy fingers. And look there at the right — is that ground fog I see bubbling up from the valley? If I recall, that’s as much a sign of the season’s change as the pretty colored leaves. It certainly adds interest to the photo.

    • Ground fog it is, Linda. Under that is the southern end of Quabbin Reservoir. And you are right about the fog…it is typical of an autumn morning, especially over the water. After I shot this I ventured up to North Quabbin where there was a great deal of fog although I did not make any images of it as my quest was for some late summer orchids.
