In fairness to myself, I do place the sun, or other subjects, elsewhere in my compositions. But I happened upon these two images while archiving files and noticed the similarity.

These are great! I don’t know what color to call the sky in the first shot, I hope an artist will provide illumination on that. Burnt orange doesn’t cover it, and “Atomic Tangerine” isn’t the right shade, which is a shame. Both of these are wonderful shots.

That first picture is dramatic. Nicely done.
In the second photograph, the sumac in the foreground seems just beginning to turn colors. Over the almost three weeks since then, did you return to catch the sumac at its peak of color?

I’d describe the difference between the two photos as the difference between sunrise as an overspreading, luminous glow, and sunrise as a specific, day-breaking point. Of course, that brings up another question: why do we call it daybreak, when it’s the night that’s being broken?
