This is a view from the Quabbin Tower just as the sun was rising. I had the Belt of Venus in mind as I drove there and decided to do a long shot of the mountains as I climbed the hill. The blue clouds are, more or less, the earth’s shadow.BTW, when I say the tower, I mean at the base. It’s boarded up for the winter…at least I hope it’s just for the winter.

What sumptuous color. I like the timber draping the tops of the mountains in the medium distance, too. It makes them look as though they’ve been poured out — like a thick cake batter going into a pan. Beyond all that, the four horizontal textures really make the photo for me: from the smooth pink sky to the wooded foreground. It’s a simple photo, really — but endlessly interesting.

I’ll see you on the sumptuous color and raise you one.

I have to tell you, Linda, that I really enjoy your critiques. Although our vision is quite different, you see things in a way that would not occur to me which helps to expand mine.

Incredible colors and I must say I did not know about the belt of Venus. I learn so much from the bloggers that I follow. This scene looks like a painting and I have no idea why. But then my eyes need surgery and maybe I need to post haste and get it done. 🙂

I’m glad you learned something from my post, Yvonne. And, yes!, take care of your eyes. As with most everything medical, the longer you put it off, the more challenging a full restoration. I am sure that you are bushy-tailed but we want you to be bright-eyed too. 🙂

Hee hee. Yes I want to be bright-eyed too. Actually I’m not so bushy tailed but I do try to be and it gets dang hard. -)

For awhile there before daylight savings time I was actually arising at 6 all on my own, feeling fully rested. It didn’t last though and now I’m back to struggling to get sleep. 😦

Thanks, Todd. The sky was good to me that morning. It’s not always, as I am sure you know. 😉
