12.26..2016 Quabbin Sunrise

I hope everyone who visits here had a nice Christmas, is having a Happy Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or enjoying another holiday as we approach 2017.  I’ve spent the last several days unsuccessfully fighting off the flu although it finally is on the wane. Hopefully I can get out tomorrow as this is a vacation week and I don’t want to miss out on much of the cold and crisp.

Here’s an image from two years ago today, posted back then, but showing up once more in lieu of something new.Gate-5-Sunrise-2-122614-700WebThere was more water then, but winter hadn’t quite arrived.  Guess I should go see what it looks like this winter.  🙂

  3. I do love this one, how the rocks line up with the reflected clouds, leading the eye to the starburst. Lovely.

  5. This one is gloriously beautiful. The sunrise picture is one to behold. Take care of that flu problem. Better stay inside until you are completely well..

Such rich, warm color. It’s quite beautiful. And, of course, I always marvel at the clarity of the water. I suppose it’s part of what makes the reflections even more delightful.

Best wishes for the New Year — not to mention a full and fast recovery.

    • The water in the Quabbin Reservoir is well-protected and almost always crystal clear. This end of the water is off limits to all boats save the DCR and state police.

Thanks for the well wishes. Almost better. Happy New Year to you.

  7. On the way: more pictures.
    On the wane: your flu.
    That’s how it should be.
    Happy holidays.

I hope you get better. Being sick sucks. Very nice photo. Love the colors and the composition. I happen to like portrait orientation for landscapes. Starburst is excellent. Well done!

Beautiful image with a nice, warm feel to it. I agree with shoreacres on the clarity of the water. Most of the waterways down here are far more cloudy. Glad to hear the flu is moving out!

    • Thanks, Todd. A lot of our waterways are cloudy as well, but the Quabbin is protected for Boston’s drinking water, and a few other communities, so it is kept pretty clean. Yeah, the flu or whatever is just about done, but two weeks later still clinging a little bit. It will be fun to feel 100% again.
